About Paul Sohn
Paul Sohn
Paul is not your average photographer. As a former engineer, Paul enjoyed tackling difficult engineering and mathematical problems. After others took notice of his natural talent for photography, Paul decided to utilize his penchant for problem-solving to pursue the craft of photography. This engineer turned photographer loved tackling nature’s complex lighting variations to create images appreciated by many. True of any passionate photographer, he loved to capture the beauty in various locations, even if it means enduring the heat of the desert or the chill of snow-capped mountains.
His work is known internationally with numerous publications in the United States, Japan and Korea. His photos have also been featured on Popular Photography's Internet Edition, Best of Photography Annuals by Photographer’s Forum Magazine, New York City Gallery Guide, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's Calendar and Korea International Salon of Photography. He won several awards from various international photo contests in the US, Japan and Korea.
His mentors included Karl Grobl, Lou Jones, Jimmy Katz, Charles Cramer, just to name a few. His camera of choice was a Nikon system for digital imaging and a Pentax medium format system for film.
In the years preceding his death, Paul was a devoted mentor and teacher who loved to share his knowledge of the technique and artistry that goes into every picture. His generosity had a wide and lasting reach as he spent time in Cuba and Costa Rica shooting weddings and portraits for families who had never been professionally photographed before. Paul felt the most at home in nature with a camera around his neck. It is our hope that you too feel at home here so please pull up a chair, enjoy these images and take a moment to wonder at creation. Thanks for stopping by.
